Have you ever used Uber? Now let’s imagine it without any drivers.. unreal? Uber recently announced joint plans with Carnegie Mellon University to create the Uber Advanced Technologies Center in Pittsburgh. This Center will focus on Maps, Safety and Autonomy.
In fact, this ‘breaking news’ is not much of a surprise. Uber CEO Travis Kalanick declared last May that cars were an inevitability for the company’s business. “The reason Uber could be expensive is because you’re not just paying for the car — you’re paying for the other dude in the car,” said the CEO during an interview.
Uber is not the only company dreaming to make driving autonomous. Google, Tesla and many others are already developing cars that don’t need drivers.
Now what we can wander is, if Uber manages to lower its cost with autonomous cars, will the price be impacted on Uber users ?
